There is no “this” for feet. There’s no, “have you been feeling…?” Because most of us don’t pay that much attention to our feet. But it’s time. We put them through a lot. The better we take care of them, the better off we’ll be in the long run. Let’s stay strong and stable on our feet for a really, really long time. Deal?
Here’s a good place to start: Yoga Toe Squat. I cannot find a sanskrit name for this. It’s like virasana, but with your toes curled under.
Start as if you’re going into camel pose with your toes curled under. Take a deep breath, and start to sit back on your heels. You may be able to sit your butt down on your heels with no problem, and wonder what all the fuss is about. You may not.
I feel a really intense stretch on the plantar side of my foot. If you do too, it’s okay to come in and out of this posture. But try to hold on to it for a couple of breaths in a row and see how you feel. Your feet will thank you. Or yell at you. But at least you’re on speaking terms now.
